Where Does the Audience Go? Challenges in MUGA Design

Flexibility is Key

When designing a Multi-Use Games Arena, it’s worth taking the time to consider how your standing and seating arrangements for spectators will integrate with the rest of your plans. Many MUGA designs are capable of hosting more than one game at once – often with different sports being played simultaneously – and this can lead to a wide variety of possible configurations.

Whether your audience is put in stands or seating, this needs to be taken into account in the arena layout from the planning stage onward.

This is also why having specific stands for the audience to occupy can be useful – it helps to prevent spectators to one game from inconveniencing players or spectators in the other.

Reliability and Capacity

The other most important factors for a MUGA to take into account with audience arrangements are the reliability and capacity needed.

At Mainstage Ltd, we hear regularly from customers who’ve come to us after finding that their previous arrangements had one of the following issues:

  • Providing enough capacity without getting in the way of other events
  • Emergent problems with safety, particularly with slippery surfaces in outdoor settings
  • High levels of damage sustained through normal wear and tear
  • Difficulties moving or adjusting the products when preparing for a new event.

Any one of these is a red flag for most venues, but especially so for MUGAs as their flexibility is their greatest asset. Our customers come to us to avoid these issues, because lines like the Bleacher and Spectator are designed to deliver on what our customers really need.

Made by Sports Fans to Suit Sports Fans

Because we’re fans ourselves, one of the first things we find ourselves looking at whenever we attend an event is how the audience is catered to. When we’re back in the office, we ask ourselves what we’d want to see, how existing plans can be improved on or altered, and we incorporate that as well as what our customers ask for into our design and manufacturing processes.

Our products are easy to store, easy to move, hardwearing, and designed with built-in safety features. Many can be accessorised with promotional material for your arena or sponsors.

For some help determining what would be right for your MUGA, you can contact us online, email us at info@mainstageltd.com, or call us on 01524 844099. We’re always happy to walk interested parties through everything they need to know.
